What do you think when you heard about urushi?
Some of you might think it cause rash. Yes, urushi cause rash. But don’t worry!!
You won’t rash if you wear our products.
First of all, I have to explain why urushi causes rash.
A chemical is called “Urushiol” is trigger for the itchy and rash.
On the other hand, Urushiol is the key of hardening urushi.
Certain temperature and humidity make Urushiol and water join together, then urushi become harden.
Usually, if urushi harden enough, it won’t cause rash anymore.
But my products are jewelry, they touch your skin directly. I have to make sure urushi won’t cause any rash.
Therefore, I use “baking-method” which is heat treatment after urshi painting instead of leaving humidity room.
Urushi is going to harden by exposing it to high temperature too. (same as powder coating)
It won’t cause rash, because high temperature kills Urushiol.

「漆でアクセサリーなんてかぶれるんじゃないの？」
という疑問にお応えしておきたいと思います。
結論から申しますと 「かぶれません」
通常皆さんがお使いになる漆器も普通はかぶれません。
それは漆を塗ってから十分に乾燥させてから流通させているからです。
ですので漆の乾燥が不十分だった場合にのみ、かぶれの原因となる可能性があります。
漆は本来ペンキなどのように「乾燥」して固まるわけではありません。
漆独特の化学反応で「固化」しているのです。
ですから漆を塗った後は一定の温度と湿度を管理した場所に安置する必要があります。
山猫堂の主な商品はお客様の肌に密着するアクセサリーです。
「漆はどうしても使いたい、でもかぶれは何としても阻止したい」
色々研究した結果、ある方法を文献などから発見しました。
南部鉄器などに使われている「焼付け漆」という方法です。
漆を塗った後に100℃以上の高温に一定時間晒すことにより、
通常の固化とは異なる化学反応により漆が硬化するという現象があり、それを山猫堂の商品に使うことにしました。
熱で漆かぶれの原因となる化学物質の働きを止めるために、
山猫堂のアクセサリーを着用してかぶれることはまずないと思います。
（皮膚のかぶれには漆かぶれ以外の原因もあるため、「絶対にかぶれません」とは言えないことをご了承下さい）
